THE PROGRAM

 The EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC program was developed and first taught in 1979 as part of the Music Center Program at Kalamazoo College.  Since then, hundreds of children from the Kalamazoo area have participated in EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC.

 The program focuses on the general education of the whole child as well as music education.  The two are intrinsically bound together.  Through the activities covered, the student becomes more self-expressive and creative.  In addition the child’s mind is stimulated and he/she is receptive to learning in general.  The students gain self-esteem, experience a sense of accomplishment, and enjoy social interaction with other children.
