MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

The founder and instructor of the EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC program is well qualified as a music educator with many years of teaching experience.  Marilyn Boal taught public school music in the Pittsburgh area for thirteen years.  During this time she developed a music curriculum for grades K-6 which was adopted by the school district.  For the past thirty years, she has taught EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC.  She also served as a church organist and choir director, directing both adult and children's choirs.

Upon receiving her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Westminster College, Marilyn continued with graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University.  She has had additional training in Orff, Dalcroze, Kindermusik, and Musikgarten methods and is a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk and Early Childhood Music and Movement Associations.  Marilyn was the recipient of the 2007 PRISM award for excellence in music education.  It was presented by the Kalamazoo Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, a national fraternity for women in music.

Having attended numerous classes and workshops, this popular teacher has kept the program new and challenging for the young child.  She has worked extensively with children’s music on all levels, but her focus has been EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC, a program which she designed and teaches.  As a children’s music specialist, she has conducted various demonstrations based on this program.  The EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC PROGRAM is highly successful, and many who complete it continue with additional musical activities including instrumental music study.  These students find their advanced training augmented by a solid music foundation.
